Mental Health at Work Matters

We have started a new campaign at Clearly Renovations to break the taboo of not talking about mental health and its effect on people’s lives.

1 in 4 people are affected by mental illness and suicide is still the single biggest cause of death for men under 45.

Sadly, there is still some stigma around this health issue; many suffer in silence and don’t get the help they need. We would like to change that.

As a company, we care about our employees’ wellbeing and do what we can to help minimise this issue. We are encouraging employees to come forward either in one to one meetings with their manager or anonymously post suggestions in our employee feedback postbox.

We have sent an email to all our employees to help them recognise early symptoms of mental health issues either in themselves or their loved ones and identifying what help is available on the internet and from talking to specialists advertised on the NHS website.

This is being followed up with a trial project where we send a weekly newsletter focused on mental and physical wellness, which includes a questionnaire to gauge employees’ wellbeing.

We are also promoting the Time to Talk campaign and supporting mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness with our donations.

This comprehensive and open approach to mental health has seen positive results, and has encouraged some operatives to come forward about their issues and seek help.
