Enhanced awareness enables the ability to detect potential hazards and risks.

Some hazards can not be spotted by the naked eye and require more advanced detection techniques.

The example below shows how one site achieved this level of awareness:

  • The company used a mobile ground penetrating radar unit to carry out 3D mapping of underground utilities and features;
  • As a result, it has been possible to produce a combined above and below ground survey 3D model;
  • Subsurface voiding and the potential hazards that result can be detected and mapped, whether it’s buried culverts, underground tunnels or badger setts for example;
  • It can can detect and map the position and depth of reinforcement bars (rebar) buried within concrete roads and structures.
