Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) is a national standard which brings together the construction logistics industry to revolutionise the management of Work Related Road Risk (WRRR) and embed a road safety culture across the industry. The CLOCS Standard calls for the construction industry to recognise its responsibilities for vehicles and drivers delivering to and collecting from construction sites.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme continues its partnership with CLOCS through the new CLOCS monitoring system. These checks establish whether the client/ principal contractor is achieving compliance with the CLOCS National Standard. This allows contractors to establish how they are performing on a site by site basis, identifying areas for improvement and recognising best practice. CLOCS monitoring is separate to a normal CCS scoring visit and each score will not affect the other.
To prepare for your CLOCS monitoring visit you should arrange a time with the CCS Monitor, prepare the appropriate personnel on site, and make sure you have the relevant information and documentation available.
The visit should last no longer than an hour and will involve a discussion, a request to see relevant evidence and some observation of measures in place. The Monitor will then draft a report summarising their findings and providing feedback to the site, along with a rating of compliant or non-compliant.
See the documents below for more information about CLOCS monitoring.
