Online Environmental Incident Register

As part of the Canary Wharf Contractors ISO 14001 accredited Environmental Management System we maintain a log of all environmental incidents that occur on our projects. This enables us to monitor trends and target preventative actions for the highest risk/most frequent type of incidents. The register is used to track a range of environmental incidents from land or water based spillages, noise complaints, air quality and traffic issues.

With the company transition to SharePoint (our new intranet service) we have moved the incident register from an MS Excel format to an online database. It is hoped that by having the register online it will have a number of benefits including:

  • Email alerts when a new entry is added
  • The ability to track who has added/modified each entry
  • Greater visibility within the company of the types of incidents that happen across our projects
  • Improved data security

The next step is to develop an app based incident platform that enables our site teams to record incidents without having to return to their desk to use their PC.
