At the beginning of the Dundee Regional Performance Centre for Sport project, a group of five inmates from HM Prison Castle Huntly supported set-up works on site.
A total of ten cumulative weeks work experience was completed by the group which provided participants with real hands-on work experience, which complemented the learning which they had completed within the prison, which included gaining CSCS cards and other construction-related training qualifications.
Work completed by the Castle Huntly team included assistance with erecting site herras fencing and hoarding, as well as ground preparation work for boreholes. Alistair Reilly (Balfour Beatty Site Supervisor) supported the Castle Huntly team while inmates were on site.
The work placement project with Scottish Prison Services was arranged by Duncan Gardner (Balfour Beatty Communicating Benefits Adviser – Tayside & Fife) via Graham Tait, Scottish Prison Service Offender Manager, as part of Balfour Beatty’s ongoing partnership with the Scottish Prison Service and as part of business objectives to provide opportunities for ex-offenders.
