Aspirations Day at a Primary School

In July 2019, Health & Safety Officer Amy and Assistant Company Director Laura from Barlow Construction & Renovation Ltd attended an ‘Aspirations day’ organised by St Mary’s Primary School in West Derby. The school was located within an area that the company had been working in and have previously provided support for.

The day was centred on the children getting to know and understand careers available to them as they progress through their school years.

The company provided Hi-Viz tabards for all the children to take home with their school logo printed on the back. This has an added advantage of being able to use the Hi-Viz on darker winter evenings and mornings walking to and from school.

Amy also conducted an interactive segment to the session asking if volunteers wanted to come up to the front of the class to try on the different PPE items that we all use on construction sites. This provided a fun element to the session.

We received great feedback from the school:

‘It was great to have you on Tuesday, and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day. They were also pleased with the Hi-Viz vests too – thank you very much. Feedback from staff was also complimentary.’ Hayley Turpin – St Mary’s School
