DIY SOS North Shields Build

A local family who have three daughters (aged 10, 5 and 3) were recently helped by the DIY SOS team. The 3 year old is partially sighted, has had major heart surgery, has to have kidney dialysis every night, cannot sit up unaided and is immobile.

The DIY SOS team wanted to build a single storey extension to become her bedroom and bathroom with storage for all of her medicines and medical equipment. John Sisk & Son were involved in this project by donating materials for the build.

Julie and Sandra Evenden are represented our scheme by working on Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th of August on the DIY SOS project. We did everything from unloading vans and carrying equipment and materials into the house, to sweeping up rubbish and tidying up for the neighbouring houses.

Julie Alexander designed the gardens and we both worked on the front and rear gardens pushing wheelbarrows full of building materials and top soil, moving a shed and carrying block paving stones. We finished by planting the fruit trees and plants which we supplied for the project.
