Meet the Team Open Days

The Kier team on the A13 Road Widening Project hold a monthly ‘Meet the Team’ event at their site offices in Thurrock.

The event enables members of the public to attend – with no appointment necessary – to learn more about the project, ask questions or lodge complaints.

The events are advertised via the project newsletter, on the website, social media and on site signage and have attracted anywhere between 10 and 30 visitors per session. The sessions run all day long, to ensure that those who are at work during the day can attend evening sessions.

By opening the doors and being the ‘friendly face of construction’, the project is able to engage with the community much more openly which has led to a strong relationship being formed between the contractor and local residents and road users.

Dan Ambrose, the Public Liaison Officer for the project, said:

“Being able to discuss issues with people face-to-face is a much more preferable way of dealing with issues – without the need for formal communication or back-and-forth email trails which can often exacerbate issues.”
