Temporary MOVA Traffic Management System

A temporary MOVA traffic management system was implemented on a busy roundabout where improvement works were taking place. Due to the large volumes of traffic using the site, maintaining proactive traffic control and management, including retaining controlled pedestrian crossings, was critical during construction.

The team developed the idea of operating a MOVA control on a temporary traffic light system. This approach allowed intelligent traffic signal controls to be used on the temporary signal installations, which until now were only available to permanent installations.

It is anticipated that such MOVA control could be useful at many temporary installations where more traditional signal control may be used, such as VA or Fixed Time. Using MOVA could reduce delays to users, just as it is proven to do on permanent signals.
