Even with robust measures to reduce the risk of a pollution incident, it is important to have a response plan in place in the event that an incident occurs. As part of Multiplex’s emergency response plan on the University of Glasgow project, the team have deployed a series of 50 litre go-bags around the site perimeter, each containing a variety of different spill response materials.
It was however felt that in addition to deploying the bags and training, it would be beneficial to have a visual reminder of how to respond to a pollution incident. We therefore had a simplified version of our response plan printed on a board and positioned at each of the spill kit locations.
The board should act as a quick and timely reminder of the steps required in the event of a pollution incident, following the stop > contain > notify process with the hope of improving the efficiency of any clean-up operation.
