Scotland Against Modern Slavery

The construction industry is particularly at risk of modern slavery and unethical labour practices. To help combat this, the contractor have become Corporate Partners of Scotland Against Modern Slavery, a forum including the Scottish Government, public organisations and businesses. Scotland Against Modern Slavery exists to help eradicate the atrocity of human trafficking and raise awareness across the Scottish business community of this trade by sharing labour market trends, best practice and knowledge.

This issue is also of particular concern to this contractors client, the University of Glasgow, who recently published a report on the historical links between the University and the slave trade. The study acknowledges that whilst it played a leading role in the abolitionist movement, the University also received significant financial support from people whose wealth at least in part derived from slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries.

By working in partnership with the client they have now become a corporate partner as well, to continue to promote and share best practice across their supply chain and campus estate.

The shared goal is the eradication of modern slavery and unethical labour practices.
