Folding Bikes for the Project Team
To aid in getting the project team back on site safety during the coronavirus restrictions where feasible and allowed, they bought twenty folding bikes for the team to use. This allowed for the team to travel some or all of their journey to and from work by bike and therefore avoiding public transport which was more congested and presented more of a coronavirus risk.
At the same time this has environmental benefits in reducing the carbon impact and wellbeing benefits for being physically healthy and helping with mental wellbeing. A project cycle storage area was already in place and is now being utilised to a greater extent.
In addition to the bikes, the contractor also offers home to work travel expenses for cycling across all sites so those cycling are not disadvantaged from claiming travel expenses, and promotes this option of travel.
