On this project they have implemented the use of the Fire Safety Stick with the hot works permits system.
When collecting approved hot works permits, the operative will receive a fire safety stick. This replaces the need for fire extinguishers. Once hot works are completed, the fire safety stick is returned to site store.
Then after 30 minutes the fire marshal will do the final visual check in the work area, to confirm area is hazard free.
The benefits of this system are:
If the fire is out of control, and you do not feel safe, activate it, leave it in the room with the fire, close the door behind you and call the fire brigade at a safe distance. The Fire Safety Stick will repress the fire in your absence, minimising health risks to employees.
