Vertical Farm

This contractor has installed 3 hydroponic farm walls (189 plants) into the site office.

They are using this as a benchmark on what will be in the final scheme by incorporating this into the site set up, by having access to what they are creating for the client.

During this time, they have held fortnightly harvests of the produce which anyone onsite can attend with a total of 25kg of produce grown, these harvests enable them to educate and engage people on produce and food sustainability issues.

They have also hosted a cooking demonstration onsite with Migrateful (a charity that help migrants and refugees on their journey to integration) using the produce for dishes which were shared with the workforce as an appreciation of their hard work onsite.

There are urban farmers coming to site to maintain, educate and harvest the produce which ranged from Kale, Pak choy, Chard, Lettuces and herbs. The greens from site go to worker’s homes and each plant harvested has a QR code with recipes so if someone hasn’t cooked the vegetable before they can simply scan this and go from there.
