W.2.1 – Assess and deliver training on modern slavery risks and indicators

Topic Progress:

Priority Actions

  • Documented, risk and impact identification and management plan relevant to the project.
  • Reporting actual vs target performance, and corrective actions (as documented in the management plan).

Suggested Methods & Actions

  • Include modern slavery awareness & training in induction.
  • Provide refresher sessions.
  • Share visual prompts (posters, guides).

Toolkit resources

  • Spotlight on… Illegal Workers – a practical resource for sites that explains the risks of illegal working, how it can present on site, and the straightforward checks and actions that help prevent it.
  • CCS eLearning: Preventing Illegal Working – a short, practical eLearning resource for sites that raises awareness of illegal working indicators, responsibilities and reporting routes, helping supervisors and managers apply learning on site.

What this looks like in practice

Modern slavery awareness is built into inductions and reinforced through toolbox talks or brief refreshers. Posters and guides are visible in welfare areas, and supervisors understand what indicators might look like in real situations.

Sites can show how risks have been considered and how learning is shared — not just that training exists, but that it is understood and used
