150 challenge: raising money for charity

The 150 challenge commemorates Costain’s 150th anniversary and had a goal of raising £1,000,000 total across the whole company in 2015 towards charity.

The charities include the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, The Prince’s Trust and The Samaritans.

The Bond Street Upgrade Project had an ideal target of £6,000 and this was stretched to £8,000, which it managed to reach by the end of the year.

As a part of this challenge, community relations manager Angelika organised a ‘Skipathon’ at Stamford Park Junior School in July 2015, as well as another one at Haverstock School earlier on in the same month. There was an assembly held beforehand in both schools which provided a high level insight into science and engineering for the pupils.

A total of 250 participants took part in the event which also provided sports equipment for the school. On the day a total of £1,019.28 was raised for charity. Furthermore, more funds were raised over the following two weeks as a result of the ‘Skipathon’.
