360 Degree Excavator Safety

One of the most dangerous activities on site is the use of 360 degree excavators digging trenches in the ground.

These extremely large and heavy machines are swinging around all day and there is a great risk if precautions are not taken when those working closely with the machine have to cross the excavators path.

To avoid this situation occurring, we have implemented the ‘thumbs up’ policy between ground workers and excavator operators.

This means when an operative needs to walk past an excavator they must stay in vision of the operator at all times and must not pass the excavator until he gets the thumbs up from him.

This is a simple, cost-free but effective way of protecting the safety of our workforce.
