4 steps to safety ‘credit cards’

Mace has introduced two core principles; the ‘four steps to safety’ and ‘observe, engage, improve’, as part of its ‘Safety first. Second nature’ strategy.

This aims to help drive and deliver outstanding safety performance across our offices and projects globally.

Mace have therefore developed a new ‘four steps to safety’ pocket card to act as an aide memoire and assist with developing a consistent approach being used by all employees, suppliers and clients across the world.

Regardless of location, role, sector, service or workplace, employees, operatives and stakeholders working or visiting our offices and projects are able to understand and engage with the Mace health and safety culture and apply our ‘four steps to safety’ ethos.

Everyone should feel empowered to speak up about health and safety and take responsibility for their own health and safety and of those around them by asking the following questions:

  • Are you in a safe place?
  • Do you have a safe system of work?
  • Are the correct, safe tools, plant and equipment available for you to use?
  • Are your colleagues safe?
