Accessing the Community through Technology

To engage with a larger portion of the public and to provide an easy and portable way of providing information we created our own QR scanner codes. The codes work through any QR scanner app available on the majority, if not all, smartphones.

Originally the QR code was used to update the public on the progress of the site. We received excellent reviews and decided to extend its use to gather data and feedback, using online questionnaires; the format we used was a simple google forms document.

This was then extended to our own workforce by issuing a survey aimed at gathering data on whether the welfare facilities we provided were sufficient and if there was anything we could do to improve them. The feedback from the workforce was very good and a recommendation for more storage for women was acted upon and resolved within the week.

Using the survey enabled us to gather large amounts of data from google forms that was saved automatically into two formats, graphs and excel. This made the data available quickly and was easy to analyse.
