Carillion Morgan Sindall is committed to having a fully competent workforce on the A6MARR.
Training is paramount both for the individuals’ career development and providing multiple benefits to the A6MARR scheme.
A training matrix has been constructed to show what competencies individuals have and highlights when these competencies are required to be renewed. A training rota is formed of the back of the training matrix which is then cascaded throughout the site team. The site team use the training rota to determine; who has been put forward for training, when the training is being carried out, where the training is being carried out (on or off site) and what PPE is required for the training.
Already the scheme has seen a number of different courses been organised through the use of the training rota such as: first aid, NVQ Levels and CPCS Forward Tipping Dumper and Roller courses.
The training rota is open to all, no matter who they are employed by. A good example of this is many of the agency employees have been put forward for training to ensure they have the correct competencies to carry out their daily tasks as well as work activities that are forecast later on in the scheme.
The training rota is cascaded weekly to site supervisors/ works managers and engineers, and is displayed site wide to ensure all are made aware of what training has been organised. Individuals are also contacted via mobile or email to ensure training sessions are not missed.
