Alternative Stair Nosing Protection

The new installation of a stick-on stair protector benefits both the environment and safety of the workforce.

Historically, the project used single-use, hard plastic nosing protectors on staircases. These were not durable and so would break easily on regular footfall in stair wells. This not only became a hazard due to the loose or broken ends but would also be replaced regularly meaning an increase in single-use plastic into the waste stream plus an increase in the associated commercial impacts.

By utilising a stick on protector (Ockwells TecDura Sticky Mat), which works like a sticky carpet protector, the project is able to reduce the risks of slip, trips and falls as well as reducing the quantity of single use plastic on the environment.

The TecDura Sticky Mat is also both flame and water resistant.
