Ambassadors in Swansea

Our ambassadors were chosen from year 8 and 9 pupils attending a local comprehensive school – Pentrehafod School, Swansea. We set up a Business class with this school alongside Careers Wales, but have decided that we would like to do more.

During a school inspection children had lunch with one of the Estyn inspectors (education and training inspectorate for Wales) who questioned them about the programme and their likes and dislikes, they discuss work on site, design, how they are planning their end presentation and how visiting the site has affected their decisions on a career path.

The children report back to their school, during assemblies, of progress on site using photographs and information gained during their visits by asking the site team questions, seeing the difference between each visit and gaining an understanding of processes required for things like deliveries, visits, why certain jobs need to be done before others. etc.

At the end of the project the Ambassadors will be invited to the last event where handover certificates are given to the client, becoming part of the history of Swansea and being able to tell their families in later life.
