Laing O’Rourke organised a monthly forum for apprentices working in construction at the Olympic Park in order to create a unique space where apprentices are able to share ideas, experience and questions with managers and directors.
In the last forum apprentices, not only working for Laing O’Rourke but also for other constructors of the Olympic Park were provided with an overview of the refurbishment of Here East’s buildings, the main challenges associated with the installation of the complex building facade and the main challenges regarding working safely.
Additionally Laing O’Rourke’s project director and Lakesmere’s project manager also shared their own personal and professional experiences, to help inform and inspire the young apprentices.
This space is also an opportunity to keep apprentices informed of different opportunities and give them support in case they need it.
Finally as Laing O’Rourke commitment with apprentices is so important, one local apprentice on the project, was invited to attend an event with the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The apprentice had the opportunity to share with the Mayor his experience of being a Laing O’Rourke apprentice.
