Apprenticeship Link Up Event

Nottingham City Council, the local Pythian Club and the site team held an innovative event to encourage young people to enter the construction industry. The “Apprenticeship Link Up” event was held on the 30th August on site.

What made this event different from previous events was the aim to create an informal party atmosphere, which was achieved by having music provided by a local DJ and a hog roast. There was also a demonstration of footballing skills by local club Notts County.

Over 120 young people attended the event, where they were able to get information on such topics as construction training courses at local colleges and how to get an apprenticeship.

The event was supported by a number of the project’s subcontractors, including the bricklayers, groundworkers and M and E contractors, who gave demonstrations of the practical skills that those joining the industry will acquire.
