Astins’ MAD (Make a Difference) training is our behavioural safety concept, this has recently been enhanced by the addition of a game to further keep safety ‘top of mind’.
The training takes the form of a card game using the knowledge of the operative to show the importance of risk perception on site and a fun method of risk assessment to avoid ‘gambling with your safety’.
This training is as a result of the fact that many more accidents on site are linked to the behaviour of an individual rather than plant or equipment. Therefore, ensuring that operatives have a positive and active regard for their safety and those around them will reduce the likelihood of these behaviour-related accidents.
We are extremely proud of our safety record and our five million man hours without a RIDDOR reportable accident on our sites.
Safety is not a luxury, rather a base upon which everything we do as a business is built and without which we cannot do the work that we do.
