Automatic Washing Bay

Construction sites, which generate dust, noise and mud, have the potential to cause nuisance to neighbours and must be managed effectively to avoid environmental pollution.

Section 79 of the Environmental Protection Act, includes any accumulation or deposit that is prejudicial, such as mud pollution, as a statutory nuisance.

All employers should ensure that practical means are used to prevent the effects of this nuisance, this could include the installation of wheel-washing equipment to help manage mud pollution.

An automatic washing bay has been implemented on the Creek Road site to ensure the appearance of site remains at a high standard.

Wheel Wash Rhino Compact is a compact high pressure spray wash system that operates automatically. The closed loop system also effectively recycles the water it uses.

Benefits of the Automatic Washing Bay System include:

  • Automatic system working with an Entry sensor, which means that an operator is not needed;
  • Delivery, installation and commissioning in 1 day;
  • Wheel Wash platform contains 3 bar pressure, 15,000 litres water recycling, 1 wheel revolution only to complete cleaning and no civil works preparation;
  • Environmentally-friendly solution, compared with a manual vehicle wash.

Through caring about the external appearance of the site, this has led to improved communications with neighbours and the local Council.
