Bee hotels

Protecting and creating new habitats for wildlife, is important to protect and preserve the natural environment.

Providing new habitats will encourage wildlife to the local area, which is important to ensure different species can thrive and co-exist.

Sites can raise awareness of local wildlife by doing the following:

  • Installing a number of ‘bee hotels’ in sunny areas around the site that are sheltered from wind and rain by an embankment;
  • These ‘hotels’ provide a space for bees to nest and lay their eggs;
  • Encouraging the bees to the area also means the local vegetation will be pollinated by the bees.
