Bespoke Goods Hoist

The works consist of a new-build 18 storey block of student flats on an extremely tight site in central Manchester.

A bespoke goods hoist has been designed and installed with the following innovative characteristics:

  • The hoist platform is significantly larger than standard hoist platforms.
  • The hoist is supported by masts which are fixed to scaffold working platforms on the façade of the building rather than to the building itself.

These characteristics have the following safety benefits:

  • Pallets and packaged materials can be taken straight up to building floors for unpacking and sorting, rather than being processed in a potentially hazardous, congested area at the foot of the building.
  • Works to the façade can safely be carried out behind the hoist.
