Bike Bay Card

This contractor is trying to encourage site workers to use bicycles, to minimise the usage of public transport in London.

To do this they have increased the capacity of site’s bike store. However, this meant they had to create a coronavirus free system to ensure safety.

Therefore they came up with the idea of ‘Bike Bay Card’, The procedure is simple:

  • Provide the site access card to Security Officer.
  • The Security officer will then collect your name and provide you a Bike Bay Card.
  • Then when leaving the site, return the Bike Bay Card.
  • Then make your way to the Bike Storage to collect your bike.

Hand Sanitise is provide and all cards are cleaned on a daily basis with anti-bacterial wipes.

This example of best practice is just one way that projects can work to tackle the virus and reduce the spread. For full guidance and the latest Government advice read the Construction Leadership Council’s Site Operating Procedures.
