Bricklaying students visit Gabriel Square

17 bricklaying students from Oaklands College visited Higgins Construction’s building site in St. Albans, to provide them with a full understanding of the construction process on a live building site.

The Site Manager at Gabriel Square, Victoria Turner, gave the students a tour of the development on 19th April 2016.

Our bricklayer on site, John Currington, also gave a talk to students to spread an understanding of the potential for bricklayers.

The workers on site had prepared some scenarios for the day, asking the students to identify examples of good and bad standards of work and chatting to them about the day-to-day working life on a live site.

The students were able to see first-hand how important team work is and were given talks about PPE and the importance of health and safety on a construction site.
