Bringing the Arts to a New Audience

The Trinity Buoy Wharf and Leamouth Peninsular area have long had a connection with the creative industries and the arts. The English National Opera and Trinity Art Studios are located here already.

In keeping with this tradition, and from close liaison with the local community and Trinity Buoy Wharf, Ballymore have added to this culture and from 2019 the English National Ballet will have a new home on the London City Island development.

Ballymore has vowed to “bring the arts to a new audience” by creating a number of dedicated performance spaces within the large development. London City Island will contribute to London’s arts scene by encouraging fresh talent and providing indoor and outdoor spaces for groups to meet, discuss ideas and perform.

The London City Island construction team has also embraced the local art vibe and appointed a local artist to do graffiti on their hoarding. There are also existing murals that were left to ensure they were in keeping with the local arts theme.

The construction team is working with the local art studio to produce a piece of art for the site canteen and had previously offered the use of the canteen facilities for their lunch time.

Local initiatives will be implemented to embrace the people from the local community, who haven’t had access to theatre or dance or other types of creative performance until now. They will be able to partake and embrace this exciting opportunity for the arts on their doorstep.

This can only be a benefit for the community near and far as some can now use the new bridge from the Canning Town tube station.
