As a company, it’s been in our best interests to try and have as little impact as possible on all surrounding businesses in order to minimise the effect of our construction work.
Unfortunately for them, the Tanzania High Commission was our closest and most affected neighbour and so suffered a partial blockade of their building as well as being a large receiver of construction noise.
The Tanzania High Commission is used as a centre for Tanzania to try and open investments and trade with the United Kingdom, in order to strengthen both of our economies. As well as this it is used to promote tourism towards Tanzania in order to try and boost their socio economic prosperity. This means it is even more important that it is kept in good condition.
In order to compensate, we decided to refurbish their garden for them and repaired their fountain to keep it looking good and functioning well. We also cleaned the front facade of their building to keep it looking new, as well as planting a large assortment of different plants to try and keep the place looking lively and fresh. We wanted to try and keep the place looking nice and beautiful in order to compensate for possibly being a nuisance to them.
As well as this we book weekly visits to the Tanzania High Commission in order to maintain good relations with them and ensure that everything is okay. We also want to make sure that their place is still in good condition and if there is anything we can do to be of help to them.
We think that being a good neighbour is one of the most important things that a construction company can do, especially when the circumstances aren’t in favour of the surrounding businesses.
