Capturing Site Specific Environmental Data

A key element of assessing environmental impact is capturing data at a site level.

This important data can then be used to calculate, monitor and minimise a site’s carbon footprint.

Companies should also capture and measure sustainability and the overall company impact upon the environment.

Below is an example of how sites have captured this environmental data:

  • A new ‘Planet Smart: Data Capture Tool’ was trialled;
  • This was designed to capture energy, waste, transport and water usage;
  • The internal company tool was user friendly, taking as little of the project manager’s time as possible;
  • Planet Smart was used to engage the workforce on sustainability and the environment.

This data capture tool also ensured that information was delivered in a time frame, which allowed action to be taken early enough to minimise the impact on the environment.
