Carbon Footprint Offset

P&W have estimated the carbon footprint for the Burnholme Care Home using data from a previous but very similar project to construct a 59 bed care home. Our target was a reduction of the estimated 184 tonnes of CO2 used at our Hedon project.

How

  • Welfare units include the following features – push taps, PIR lighting, timed heaters
  • Turn off vehicle Engines whilst not in use
  • Schedule deliveries to avoid waiting time
  • Instruct all drivers to switch off engines if waiting cannot be avoided
  • Hire energy efficient machinery
  • Vehicle share arrangements included in weekly labour planning
  • Encourage car sharing for all operatives
  • Car share for all head office staff visits
  • Encourage use of CORD (Carbon Offset Red Diesel)

Offset

P&W have entered into an offsetting agreement to offset three tonne of our monthly CO2 used each month – that’s a 25% offset each month.

The funding supports Global Portfolio VCS certified carbon reduction programmes across the world via a range of projects that include carbon avoidance, clean and renewable energy generation.

Many are within developing countries, where they also provide additional social benefits.
