Carbon Footprint Reporting Model

Costain Skanska Joint Venture (CSJV) have an extremely detailed carbon model which is updated monthly to reflect fuel usage, electricity consumption and vehicle movement to and from site.

However, where CSJV have gone over and above other site is our reporting of scope 3, i.e. embodied carbon and indirect transport.

CSJV have expanded the carbon reporting model to include an accurate and detailed account of the embodied carbon within the core materials of the station by utilising various tools such as the Inventory of Carbon and Emissions and the Environment Agency calculator.

CSJV have worked with suppliers and Greenwich University to calculate a Lifecycle Assessment of the internal blockwork, as well as obtaining a personalised carbon footprint of all the concrete mixes within the box from Lafarge.

As scope 3 is the vast majority of a projects footprint, this work has gone a long way towards achieving true representation of our carbon footprint.
