Challenging and motivating young professionals

Industry participation and competition can help to incentivise young professionals and develop significant key skills for the construction industry.

Competition can also help to create a healthy platform for generating new ideas and recognising potential talent and achievements.

The creation of a suitable platform for research and development, can also lead to innovation in key matters such as health and safety.

Sites have introduced annual competitions to allow young professionals the opportunity to achieve recognition and reward, by competing against their peers, in a cross-discipline challenge:

  • ‘Teambuild’ challenged teams representing a variety of construction companies to plan, design and present proposals for a live site and to be judged by eminent judges from the industry;
  • This annual event is recognised by major companies, and sponsored by the industry to provide young professionals with the opportunity to excel;

These type of high profile competitions are valuable training and networking opportunities for the industry.
