Changing Places – Plant Awareness at Battersea Phase 2

At Battersea Power Station Phase 2, there is a large amount of heavy plant operating on site as the majority of works at present involves piling, bulk excavation, enabling and groundworks.

With this, an initiative was introduced to allow those trades which do not work with the equipment on a daily basis to have the opportunity to learn from the trade contractors involved in these works and improve their awareness of working around this plant.

Trade contractors were paired up to brief operatives on the safety issues of working around the plant and given the opportunity to “Change Places” with the plant operators to appreciate the view from the cab.

The briefings were very well received and the opportunity to sit in the cab to get an operators point of view was a worthwhile experience.
