Thursday 20th June was Clean Air Day 2019, the UK’s largest campaign against air pollution. Before this on Wednesday 5th June it was World Environment Day, the United Nations’ day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment, with this year’s theme focusing on air pollution.

In order to raise awareness on the subject, a quiz focusing on air pollution was sent out to the University of Glasgow Project Team. Questions covered areas such as health implications relating to air quality, indicators of local air quality, how to reduce exposure to air pollution and pollutants relating to Non Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM).

The five participants with the highest score earned themselves a Clean Air Day water bottle and t shirt, which were gifted to us from Environmental Protection Scotland for our efforts in raising awareness about this important topic within the construction industry. This was a great way to get the team learning about air quality and thinking about how they can reduce their impact.
