Clean Tech Roadshow On Site

Mace hosted a Cleantech Roadshow on one of its project sites, with electric tools and construction plant demonstrated by three suppliers:

  • Wacker Neuson: Battery Dumper, Battery Excavator, Battery Rammer, Battery Plate and Battery Poker
  • Makita: Electric hand tools
  • Pop Up: Electric working platform.

The event was successful in promoting and increasing the use of electric plant and tools by:

  • Raising awareness on the need to switch towards cleaner technologies on construction sites
  • Supporting Mace staff and other stakeholders in discovering the breadth of new and ‘best in class’ technologies available on the market
  • Providing information on technical specifications and remove some prejudices regarding performance and battery life
  • Demonstrating how the machines work.

The outcome of the event was to achieve a better level of understanding and buy-in from site contractors, moving them closer to hiring clean tech kit.

Indeed, following the roadshow, one of the landscaping contractors has agreed to trial the electric dumper and electric excavator as part of their works on the project.

This will provide valuable feedback on the field use of such equipment, both for the construction management team and for other contractors on the project. They will be able to take the knowledge to other sites and increase the use of electric plant and tools in the wider construction industry.
