CO2 Neutralising Felt Roof

During the procurement process for the project, we challenged ourselves to procure materials that provided an environmental benefit to the project.

Through our supply chain partnerships, we were able to source a product which bettered the original roofing specification and would have a positive impact on the environment. Our client was fully supportive of this and approved our proposed change from the standard bitumen felt roofing product to Derbingham Olivine.

The products unique selling point is that it is capable of removing CO2 from the atmosphere through reaction with Olivine top layer and producing a non-harmful magnesium carbonate, by weight the product is capable of removing 1.25kg of CO2 per 1kg of felt.

To date, the site has installed 7800kg of materials with the final total expected to be 10000kg, bringing total CO2 which can be removed from atmosphere to 12500kg overall.
