Collaborative Work Experience Project

On 15th June, we had three young visitors from Sawston Village College who arrived with Helen Clements, Community Investment Advisor, Morgan Sindall and Harry Lewis, Graduate Design Manager, Morgan Sindall.

The three young visitors were on work experience with Morgan Sindall who are trying to encourage interest in the construction industry. We were, and are, happy to work with them on this encouragement.

During their work experience time they were tasked with a project to design a modular building and therefore came to us at Carter Accommodation to find out more about modular buildings.

For their visit we prepared a risk assessment which was sent to their homes for parental consent for the visit to go ahead and we bought them in safety boots, planned our route for the factory tour to keep them away from any higher risk activities and prepared a bespoke induction for them and a bespoke presentation for them from our MD, Darren Arnold.

We then took all five visitors safely around our site and Darren Arnold spoke to them in depth about technical, design and history elements of modular buildings. The Carter Accommodation HSQE Manager also stayed with the group during their visit to ensure their comfort and safety.

We prepared Visit Evaluation forms for completion by all visitors so that we could ascertain, for future reference, what we did well and what we did not so well, in line with continuous improvement for future visits.
