Combatting Fatigue, Anxiety and Depression with SAD Lighting

At Robertson we believe that a healthy workforce is a happy workforce!

We value our workforce and understand that mental health problems and fatigue can affect anyone at any time. We operate an open door policy where employees and subcontractors can talk to a manager or Mental Health First Aider in absolute confidence. We provide a free helpline that offers advice and counselling, and we ensure that all our employees and subcontractors have access to online health awareness programmes and health/wellbeing talks.

Although we offer all the above, we wanted to go that one step further by installing specialist lighting throughout our cabins onsite. These lights are medically proven to help combat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and can alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, depression, anxiety and low moods. The light therapy simulates the light of the sun and once absorbed into the eyes, can release dopamine in the brain which increases energy levels, alertness and uplifts moods – ultimately making you feel happier!

Using light therapy can also prevent the onset of depression so is an excellent preventative measure for those that are prone to feeling low during the winter months.

We remain vigilant in our mission to provide a caring and supportive environment for our workforce and will continue to advance in our approaches to do so.
