Combi Lifting Solution

On this project, a replacement launch nose that was 16 metres longer than the original was required due to modification for the redesigned bridge.

The original launch nose did not enter the exclusion zone for the 133kV overhead cables. However, the new launch nose would pass straight beneath the overhead cable exclusion zone.

They originally planned to use a large telehandler with restrictors, however this again would prove to be problematic dangerous and unsafe practice.

They held meetings and discussions to find a safe lifting solution and reviewed the use of offset lifting tackle and/or smaller equipment but nothing was suitable.

A solution was suggested that they could use a gantry crane system previously used on windfarms for turbine blade transportation.
