Community Fridge

An initiative the Woodmansterne team are currently trialling is a ‘Community Fridge’, which aims to minimise wasted food and promote sustainability.

The community fridge enables food to be shared within a community, anyone can put food in and anyone can take food out.

The main aim of community fridges is to reduce food waste. They also enable people facing hardship to have easy access to fresh, nutritious food, but there is no discrimination since anybody can use them.

We are currently in talks with the local community to find a suitable location for the fridge once WDC leave site thereby leaving a legacy for the community.
