Community Timber Recycling

The project team have worked with the community to recycle timber more effectively. They strive to reduce wastage from site and improve on prefabrication techniques, however there is always an element of unused materials generated from site works. Rather than transporting clean timber material offsite for recycling, they set up a local recycling station offering the material to the local community.

The measures and results:

  • Secured extraction area provided on the perimeter of the site away from construction zones and in full view of site office
  • Material is checked to ensure no hazards.
  • Reduced materials to landfill, reduce energy usage/wastage
  • Delighted local community

Working together to reduce waste has had a great result for the contractor and the wider community.
