Company car selection incentives to reduce carbon emissions

At Morgan Sindall we are committed to improving the environment in which we work and live in.

Reducing our carbon emissions and improving air quality is one way of doing this. Incentives are produced as part of the company car selection process, based on base model CO2 figures and deviation from the same.

As stated in the company car policy:

‘Incentives are produced as part of the company car selection process, based on base model CO2 figures.

Each grade has a maximum CO2 emission level attached to it. In order to encourage a reduction in CO2 emissions, if a driver chooses a car which has CO2 emissions in excess of the amount set for that grade, there will be a charge made to the driver of £1 per calendar month for each gram of CO2 above the level of their grade.’

If a model is chosen which has CO2 emissions below the set level for their grade the driver receives £1 per calendar month for each gram of CO2 saved. These amounts will be displayed as a fixed ‘green’ charge or saving on the monthly payslip.

Incentivising our workforce to make a conscious decision during the company car selection process, not only raises awareness of the importance to reduce carbon and air emissions, but helps minimise the impact of our car fleet.
