Company Involvement with Wings to the Past

Network Archaeology Ltd has been instrumental in their involvement with the RAF ‘Wings to the Past’ scheme, by providing ongoing hands-on archaeological experience on a site near Lincoln. It is the first time in the UK that archaeology has been used as a tool to help boost the wellbeing and mental health of RAF personnel and their families. The project is carried out in conjunction with Lincoln University and the local authority.

What began as a commercial project for Network Archaeology soon became more charitable, with a reduced budget meaning that a lot of the work was being done for minimal profit. The company and its staff became so invested in the project, that many donated time to the project as volunteers.

What makes Wings to the Past unique, is that it supports the mental health and wellbeing of currently serving military personnel, rather than only ex-military staff.
