During any construction project, there will inevitably be periods of noisy activity.

Measures should be in place to minimise disruption to the community, as noise is a very common complaint associated with construction work.

Sites should pre-warn neighbours of potential noise and try to reduce activity to sensible times of the day.

Courtesy and communication regarding the impact of noise can build better relationships with local residents and businesses and will reflect positively on your site.

This site considered the impact of noisy activity on a nearby theatre:

  • A detailed plan to avoid noise intrusion during performances and rehearsals at the nearby theatre was put in place;
  • Monitoring noise with a live feed directly to the site management mobile when noise levels on site approach the threshold;
  • Methods adopted for construction were changed to minimise the impact of noise.
