Control Measures to Reduce Carbon Footprint

12.5 billion tonnes of paper and cardboard are used annually in the UK and it takes 24 trees to create one tonne of paper. This is a staggering amount of tree consumption each year.

At Fiducia, we have planted 29 trees through the ‘Tree Appeal’ charity as a means of offsetting our carbon emissions through site activities and paper usage etc.

We believe that this isn’t enough and we could do more as a company, as a result we have come up with control measures to improve our carbon footprint further.

Paper is always required, regardless of what industry you work in. We have made it part of our policy that only recycled paper is used and recycling bins have been incorporated into our offices. Paper that has been manufactured from recycled paper creates 73% less air pollution than if it was made with raw materials. If everyone implemented this, imagine the improvement we would make!

We have also introduced PDF and Microsoft compatible smartphones and ipads for all our personnel. This means that all working drawings and specifications of works can be downloaded to the devices for use, rather than regularly printing new documents for site visits and onsite personnel.

This isn’t a cost effective method, but company sustainable development is a worthy cause and at Fiducia, we believe its the way our industry should be heading.
