Control Point Location

An extremely important part of every construction project is the establishment and maintenance of control points.

Control points are necessary as they are used by total stations to set out every component of the building. A common problem on sites is where control points are lost or obstructed due to project progression.

Based on this, it was decided on Project Rome (Glanbia) Portlaoise to locate these control points on prisms mounted to 4 meter high RSJ’s embedded in concrete. This ensures the control points are in a secure location and can be sighted at any point on the site by a total station.
